Counsellor, Deputy Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations in Rome

Jette Michelsen is a highly educated professional with a diverse academic background. She holds a Master of Philosophy in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Arts in History from the University of Copenhagen, and a Bachelor of Arts in French, also from the University of Copenhagen. Additionally, she completed the Journalistisk Tillægsuddannelse program at Danmarks Medie- og Journalisthøjskole.

Jette Michelsen's professional journey is rich and varied, reflecting her expertise in international relations and humanitarian affairs. She has held prominent roles at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, including serving as the Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Denmark to FAO, WFP, and IFAD at the Danish Embassy in Rome. Prior to that, she was the Chief Advisor in the Department of Humanitarian Action, Migration, and Civil Society. Her experience also includes positions such as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in New York and Geneva, Deputy Director in the Department for Middle East and Latin America, and Head of Section in various departments focusing on regions like Southern Africa, Central Europe, West and East Africa.

Moreover, Jette Michelsen has international experience through her roles at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as the Coordinator of the IASC Task Force on Climate Change. She also served as an Associate Expert at UNESCO HQ in the Social and Human Science, Population, and Human Settlement Division, as well as at the UNESCO Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa.
