Dr. James A. Egenrieder is a specialist in public education programs, scientific, technical training, and STEM workforce development based in Washington, D.C.

He serves as Research Faculty and Director of Virginia Tech's Thinkabit STEM Education and Workforce Development Labs, focusing on biodiversity, watershed systems, sustainable energy, and advocacy.

Jim is a leader at Virginia Tech's Center for Enhancement of Engineering Diversity, managing teams for STEM education and workforce initiatives in the D.C. area and beyond.

He collaborates with international research centers and focuses on physical computing, IoT, Smart Cities, AI in Education, and preparing the future global STEM workforce.

His volunteer roles include leadership positions in various organizations promoting STEM education, career and technical education, and workforce development.

Jim has a rich educational background, including a Doctorate in STEM Education, Green STEM studies, Oceanography, Wildlife and Fisheries Science, and Math & Science Education.

Throughout his career, he has held positions in educational institutions, government agencies, environmental organizations, and regulatory affairs.

Jim has been instrumental in developing online STEM instruction platforms, project-based learning approaches, and curriculum connections to real-world issues.
