This was a tough one to write.
About 6 years ago I went to Randy Rayburn to ask him about a restaurant idea I had. Without telling me not to do it, he walked me through a Socratic process to talk myself out of it.
About 8 months later, he called to recruit me to help revive Elliston Place Soda Shop. "I know you have a soft spot for these old places." He had me hooked.
When I left the Soda Shop at the end of 2023, I called to thank him for the tremendous opportunity to help save that piece of restaurant history, how much I learned from him, and how I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. After a long pause, he said,"Well, I'm glad you got that out of your system."

It’s been a while since I started my role at Elliston Place Soda Shop as a Minister of Culture, but I wanted to share this update and invite y’all to come by for the best classic milkshakes, meat-and-three menu, and biscuits in town.
