Jim Taylour

Head of Design and Wellbeing

Jim Taylour is a Workplace Design and Ergonomics specialist with expertise in strategic workplace design, fitness-centered product design, ergonomics management, children's health and ergonomics, back pain prevention, corporate occupational health, and workplace wellbeing.

With a background in furniture design and industrial design, Jim Taylour completed an MSc in Ergonomics and Workplace Design in the mid-90s. He has worked for various office furniture manufacturers, including Gordon Russell and the Steelcase Strafor group, and has run the R&D department at Giroflex/Orangebox before establishing Active Ergonomics.

Currently, Jim serves as the Head of Design at Orangebox's UK manufacturing center in South Wales. His research and publications focus on topics like 'Mobile Generations' exploring Agile Smartworking and health challenges in the workplace. Jim initiated 'wireless well working', a workplace strategic design tool to support wellbeing and collaborative initiatives in organizations.

Beyond his professional roles, Jim Taylour contributes to European harmonization of dimensional standards for office and school furniture. He chairs a special interest group on children's ergonomics at the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors and is a professional member of the charity Back Care.

Jim Taylour holds a BA Hons in Furniture Design from Nottingham Trent University, a Post Grad Certificate in Management Studies from the University of South Wales, and a Master's degree in Work Design and Ergonomics from the University of Birmingham.
