The recognition on this award is nice. But I couldn't stop crying at how beautifully they captured my story. So many feels! People only get to see the shiny parts of it all – not seeing the tears, the self-doubt, failures, pain, and trauma in doing this work. Or that beyond the flashy titles and recognition is the heart of a gal who genuinely loves and cares deeply about people. A gal who has a special place in her heart for those who have barriers in the world and suffer the most because of them.   This article made me think about all the folx who are trying to find their space and feel the frustration of not feeling valued, heard or seen. To anyone who has ever had to bear that pain, I just want you to know, I see you. And you are worthy and valued—even if those around you don't see it. I also want you to know there are nearly 8 billion people on the planet and there's a space for you somewhere. Whether it's where you are now or somewhere else. And if you have fear, that's ok. But there's so much more waiting for you on the other side of pushing through that fear.   To those amazing leaders who actually SEE people beyond the labels, beyond your bias and beyond first impressions…THANK YOU. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your boldness and advocacy. Thank you for standing up for the people you believe in.   Transparently, it took me some time to post this. It's really just a lot to take in. Because no matter what, I only see myself as a small town girl who wants to change the world. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope you take time to read my story and see my heart. I love you all. -Jiquanda
