Highlights
Are we or are we not allowed to have this much fun at work? 😆
Just look at the pure joy on the faces of both the speakers and the audience - it was supposed to be spicy debate, but both Team Veterans and Team Challengers battled their way into collaboration over competition agreeing on the most critical aspect of payments - to serve your customer (little b!) well and ensure that the transaction arrives safe and sound.
We could not despite our best efforts, declare a winning team between the two. But we were delighted to present (cabin bag size friendly!) trophies to both stellar team captains Rene Michau & Dante A. Disparte , and best speakers Livia Benisty and Sujit Misra . Was a tough call amongst the strong contributions from Carrie Suen Martin Etheridge Morgan Krupetsky and of course the veteran of the challengers Umar Farooq ! And all summed up perfectly by the unflappable Rich Teo It was a conversation to remember 😎

Nexus implementation - it’s finally here!
It started with a dream. A dream to connect a network of instant payment systems to bring inclusive and accessible payments to all.
In Phase 1, under BIS’ leadership we started small to build a blueprint for a multilateral based on the world’s first instant payment bilateral linkage Paynow Promptpay.
In Phase 2, we dreamt big and linked the payment systems of Europe, Malaysia and Singapore in a prototype.
In Phase 3, we moved fast with ASEAN 5 central banks designing a comprehensive blueprint to the hardest part of linking infrastructure - aligning governance arrangements in the form of a scheme rule book and implementation guide.
And the next Phase 4, with the signing of the agreement among the 5 first mover central banks yesterday in Basel, we will move from paper to implementation - to make this dream a reality. We have much to look forward to.
