Well, it took a while, but I've finally updated LinkedIn.
Before I post further, I'd like to thank ALL of you who I've encountered, or worked with over the past 33 years in Hospitality. It doesn't matter in what aspect, or for how long. You all were important in my learning, & I appreciate you. Many of you seem to have forgotten how important you are? There are people you may never even know you made a difference for in life. Remember this.
So, I've left the industry, on my terms. It did not take me 'this' long to figure out Hospitality is not my life purpose. I've always managed differently, & worked outside all boxes. I knew. It took me this long to leave what I came to know, & get the courage to do what I wanted, in my way. I had stayed 'safe', & went by what others thought made sense, but there is no growth in safety, or living other peoples beliefs. You need to seek discomfort to grow, or ever find your true purpose here. You need to trust your inner feelings.
For all the upper management who asked me how I detected fraud BEFORE it happened so often, or had union staff fight 'for me', or to work with me on the worst shifts- now you know why. Feeling. Intuition. Care. Humanity.
Too many businesses are phasing out Humanity, then wonder why they fail, or can't find reliable staff. Many places have eliminated Human Resources entirely, or do 'computerized' HR, Regional HR, or have even changed the name to remove 'human' from it! Even the greatest property is only an empty building without the team who makes it a success. Personal investment in your staff makes ALL the difference. There's endless training on how to treat guests to make more $ (To be 'robots' while still sounding sincere)- yet, little to none to teach your staff, who spend more time with each other than their own families, to learn how to work better together when things get sensitive or complicated. I hope that changes.
My life today is nothing that I envisioned it to be a few years ago. If you'd told me I'd leave Hotels, & be able to truly help others via my Readings & Spiritual Guidance, I would have never believed it. Just know, it's NEVER too late. If I can do this, ANY of you can find your true purpose & happiness. Never give up hope. Life is not meant to be so hard. Many people are just lost in habit, or in their own way.
