Joan Howarth is a distinguished legal scholar and educator with a long career in academia and law. She is currently Professor Emerita at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV).31 Howarth served as dean of the Michigan State University Law College from 2008 to 2016.1 Prior to her deanship, she was a professor at the Boyd School of Law since 2001, where she was named William S. Boyd Professor of Law in 2003.1
