[in memoriam] To the #hyperspectral community: this is with a very heavy heart that I write this post. Paul Gader passed away on june 6th, following a final battle against cancer. Recognized an IEEE Fellow, Paul was a pillar of our community. In 2013, he was the general chair of the IEEE #WHISPERS conference in his home town of Gainesville, Florida. He was a true source of inspiration for so many of us. A terrific mentor for so many younger colleagues. A selfless, kind, honest, caring colleague, a friend. Always open to interesting discussions, be they regarding scientific problems, culture, music, literature, nature, ... the world. Many had also the chance to appreciate his talent with a saxophone ! His incredible sense of humour will also be remembered by many. In his last moments, he was surrounded with love, peace, and grace, with his beloved family around him and the thoughts of many friends around the world. Paul, we miss you so much already. May your wisdom keep on inspiring all of us.
Celebrating Paul Gader: Following the service that was held on june 16, with deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, the Paul Gader family would like to remind all that Paul was very supportive of efforts to conserve the natural beauty and diversity of North Florida. If you feel so moved to join him in this, we suggest you make a donation in Paul’s memory to Alachua Conservation Trust. Lee Dunn-Gader Elizabeth G. Dunn
