The journey from invisible to unstoppable is not a superhighway. It's an unrelenting obstacle course that can only be navigated one step at a time.

You may have heard about the Shanti Bhavan Children's Project from the Netflix documentary 'Daughters of Destiny', but nothing compares to meeting these students and hearing their stories firsthand to truly appreciate the improbability of their journey.

I'm organizing a small gathering for executives and corporate donors who can offer internships, job opportunities, scholarships, and support to these remarkable students. The event will be hosted at a private residence in Palo Alto. Our featured guest is a Shanti Bhavan student who is attending Stanford University and interning with a prestigious VC firm.

Reach out if you're interested in learning more about this incredible initiative and how you can get involved as we launch our SF/ Bay Area chapter.

As artificial intelligence continues its rapid advancement, what type of human skills and mindsets will be most complementary and valued in the workplace? Which roles and capabilities are least likely to be disrupted or replicated by AI? And for students looking to future-proof their careers, should interdisciplinary paths that facilitate integrating human and machine intelligence become the new priority over specialized majors?

I recently attended Stanford's Human-Centered AI (HAI) Conference, where I spoke with representatives from universities actively transitioning towards curricula that blend multiple disciplines and incorporate AI skills. A resounding theme emerged: The AI revolution demands a return to more versatile "renaissance professionals" who can integrate diverse areas of expertise. While the tension between general and specialized knowledge is nothing new, there is widespread agreement that the advent of AI represents uncharted territory. No one can predict with certainty how emerging AI capabilities will reshape the professional landscape. However, universities often regarded as change-resistant institutions are getting ahead of the curve by deconstructing traditional colleges in favor of interdisciplinary models that synthesize multiple fields.

The workforce itself is poised for a parallel transformation, with various business functions consolidating into new cross-functional roles and teams. Established corporations hamstrung by entrenched bureaucracies and org structures may struggle to evolve, as employees prioritize safeguarding their current positions over embracing change. In contrast, startups unencumbered by rigid hierarchies possess an inherent advantage in redesigning as fluid, interdisciplinary collectives.

This shift could manifest as previously distinct domains coalescing into new interdisciplinary disciplines. For example, Marketing, communications, PR, and strategic partnerships may converge into an "Audience Strategy & Engagement" program spanning brand storytelling, data-driven audience insights, relationship management, and AI-powered message optimization.

The unifying thread? Technical skills like data/AI proficiency complemented by vital human capabilities such as strategic thinking, creativity, empathy, cross-functional collaboration to create “better together” augmentative outcomes.

Over the next 3-5 years, rather than preparing for us vs machine battle, those who can seamlessly augment their innate human ingenuity with AI's analytical capabilities will become the most indispensable inventors, problem-solvers and entrepreneurs of this Human + AI renaissance.
