Earlier today, Richmond broke ground on its segment of the Fall Line Trail, a multi-use trail that will span approximately 43 miles, connecting the region from Ashland to Petersburg. The trail is designed to provide a safe, scenic route for pedestrians and cyclists, linking various communities and key landmarks.

I hopped into this great photo with my CEO Sheryl Adams and Richmond City Council members Ellen Robertson and Andreas Addison, who also serve on the GRTC Board. This trail is one of the first major projects Central Virginia localities have partnered on under the formation of the Central Virginia Transportation Authority (CVTA), which was established to fund and deliver regional transportation projects like the Fall Line, enhancing connectivity and mobility across the region.

Yesterday, members of the GRTC leadership team completed the second part of our internal strategic planning session by partnering with Hidden Gems Escape Room in Midlothian. We put our teamwork skills to the test, trying to escape from one of their challenging rooms. Simultaneously, other groups worked on building crafts, each with varying levels of expertise.

This experience took me back to my Norfolk NAACP days when we conducted a similar exercise. One group was given clear instructions along with a box showing a complete picture—representing a clear vision and communication channels. Another group received only instructions, symbolizing strong communication but lacking vision, as the box with the picture was missing. The final group had all the necessary parts to complete the craft but no instructions or box.

The power of communication and vision isn’t just a reflection of the workforce; it's an integral part of it. We all have a role in making meaningful change.

It was my first time in an escape room, and major shoutout to my teammates who successfully made it out! A big thank you to Hidden Gems Escape Room for their hometown hospitality.
