This paper is impenetrably academic but the takeaways are FASCINATING for the future of work.

In short, the authors found that occupations with higher salaries, higher education requirements, and greater need for creative abilities are MORE likely to be exposed to advances in generative AI.

This raises the question of what "exposed" means... Does it mean "disrupted" or "influenced" or "made obsolete" or "super-charged"?

Starting at page 19, you can scroll through alllllll of the jobs to see how the authors’ research anticipates your particular job's exposure.

(Big thanks for the summary to my colleague, AI-that’s-going-to-take-my-job-some-day.)

Love this way of framing and celebrating circuitous career paths!

"Whereas a career path tends to be a singular pursuit (climb the ladder in one direction and focus on what is straight ahead), a career portfolio is a never-ending source of discovery and fulfillment. It represents your vast and diverse professional journey, including the various twists and turns, whether made by choice or by circumstance. "
