Joe Metcalfe

Solving fashion resale at scale | 1 million items sold | Founder & CEO @ Thrift+

Joe Metcalfe is the Founder and CEO of Thrift+, an online second-hand clothing retailer that aims to make it easy to resell unwanted clothes and give more charities the chance to raise funds.13 He is also the founder of Charity Street, the first click & collect app for charity shops.13 Joe is passionate about using technology for more than profit and is an expert in charity retail.4

Metcalfe's mission with Thrift+ is to make clothes part of a circular industry.5 Thrift+ sells second-hand clothes, with a portion of the proceeds going to charities.5 Joe was frustrated by fast fashion and the fact that 70% of the 100 billion items of clothing produced each year are sent to landfill or burned.2 He wants to end fashion waste by making secondhand seamless.2

Prior to founding Thrift+ and Charity Street, Joe Metcalfe worked as a consultant at Credo Business Consulting LLP for four years.3 He is an alumnus of the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Judge Business School.6
