☀ 🌲 ⛰ Sneaking out for a much needed camping trip for the rest of the week...

No better way to clear the professional mind than some time in nature. Helps you to realize that folks have been searching for jobs (while others help them!) for hundreds of years while the trees just keep growing, the sun keeps shining, and the rivers keep flowing.

Your search will end soon with a new opportunity. Keep those heads up HIGH. Get out and focus on something else for a bit, if you can.

Had a phenomenal interaction with a client just yesterday…after a job actually fell through(!).

How’s that, you’re wondering?

Well, through some simple compassion, understanding, and human connection. ✅

They had reached out to fill a dire need, Compliance Operations Associate, as the team was drowning and in serious need of some organizational shoring up.

Went right to work, lined up three all-star candidates, and the client was incredibly stoked at the quality of the CV’s as well as the turn around time of getting them over.

Then I received the dreaded, “Just got out of a meeting and it seems the hiring team’s priorities have shifted now…”

Dun Dun DUNNNN

No worries. It was a bummer for sure, but made a quick shift into understanding and compassionate connection mode. ✅

Remember: We’re all people.

Me: “All good. These things happen. All three of the candidates were pumped about your company, but I’ll be sure to let them know this isn’t on them and that you would love to connect in the future.”

Client: “Thanks, Joe. I'm honestly really disappointed that things took this turn. I was super excited about these candidates too! Please pass that on to each of them, and I hope they'll understand that this is a result of business changes that are unfortunately out of my control.

You did a fantastic job sourcing promising candidates, which isn't easy for a role like this. And your team's responsiveness and clarity has been better than what we've experienced with all other agencies. I was just telling our COO that the one silver lining in this situation is that we've built a foundation with you that we will definitely tap into, hopefully in the very near future.”

Felt like a BIG score, taking an unfortunate situation and making some lemonade from it.

Now that relationship is as strong as ever and hopefully will turn into even more hires down the road than this isolated one.

Let’s go!
