Earlier this week I had the pleasure of presenting and serving as a panelist for a couple of sessions at the ECPA Leadership Summit. The topic? Artificial intelligence, of course.

More specifically, I focused on "unlocking the hidden value of IP." Unlocking this hidden value is an opportunity that exists for all organizations, not just publishers, btw. We're leveraging it here at RPG as we continue developing our custom GPT for B2B sellers. Every company has proprietary IP which is potentially even more valuable within a custom GPT.

One of the common concerns I hear about this is the risk of proprietary information being used to train public AI platforms. I certainly don't want to risk that outcome with our IP so I made sure all the training settings are configured to prevent it. Yes, that means I'm trusting that OpenAI won't allow content leakage; coincidentally, I confirmed our IP is safe earlier this week when I thought I was prompting our custom GPT but it was really the public ChatGPT and it had no idea how to answer my questions.

I was on a call this morning with one of our partners, Claus Geiger, and he mentioned it won't be long before we'll see services sprout up which will test all the public genAI platforms to see if any of your proprietary custom GPT content has escaped into the wild. I agree. And if services like that exist today, please share the details in a comment to this post. If not, here's an opportunity for someone to build that solution.

My ongoing work in developing a custom GPT for RPG has revealed another powerful approach to radically enhancing sales training methods. And what's particularly interesting is that this concept has plenty of potential beyond just sales training.

Traditional role-playing in sales training lets participants rehearse pitches and handle objections in a safe environment. But it's not without its flaws—it can be hard to organize and might not cover all the scenarios a salesperson needs to master. And let's face it: It can often feel awkward and forced.

Enter AI role-playing. The custom GPT I'm developing, trained with the unique selling methodology from "The Priority Sale", can transform how training is done. It offers salespeople the chance to engage in realistic, real-world scenarios customized for their particular pipeline opportunities. By using an AI service they're also able to practice different sales tactics and responses 24/7, which isn’t possible in standard training or role-playing environments. The entire interaction takes place through the lens of The Priority Sale methodology, so the GPT's feedback and scoring is based on proven guiding principles, so you're not just querying a generic tool like ChatGPT.

This concept isn’t just for sales roles though. Think about its potential in any negotiation setting or even as a prep tool for presentations. Using AI, you can simulate interactions, refine your approach, and get ready to tackle real-world challenges. It's like having a personal coach who's available anytime to throw curveball questions at you, helping you think on your feet before you step into the actual spotlight.

What’s exciting is that AI role-playing can be adapted for virtually any situation that involves interpersonal interaction. It's a versatile tool that can be customized to fit different professional needs across industries. This means businesses can better prepare their employees, ensuring they're equipped to handle complex situations with ease and confidence.

The bottom line? Integrating AI into role-playing exercises is more than just an upgrade—it’s a revolution in training. It brings a level of consistency and versatility to preparation that traditional methods just can't match. It's a game-changer for anyone needing to boost their negotiation chops or presentation skills.

I'm thrilled about the potential of this technology and can’t wait to see how it evolves. #ai #artificialintelligence #generativeAI #customGPT #salestraining #b2bselling
