Joel MacDonald is a seasoned professional with over twenty years of experience in designing, developing, and facilitating learning for individuals of all ages. With a background in professional soccer coaching, Joel transitioned into a career focused on learning and development, expressing a deep passion for acquiring new knowledge and imparting it to others. His diverse experience spans roles such as coach, public school teacher, college instructor, and facilitator, culminating in his current position as an e-learning instructional designer at a reputable university. Additionally, Joel is the visionary founder of Brain Candy Learning, a new venture aimed at addressing the learning and development needs of Canadians, particularly in the Maritimes.

Joel's educational journey reflects a commitment to continuous growth and learning. He holds a Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education and Teaching from St. Francis Xavier University, a Master's degree in Human Kinetics with a specialization in Coaching Sciences from The University of British Columbia (UBC), a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and Teaching from the University of New Brunswick, and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a focus on Sports Sciences, also from the University of New Brunswick.

Throughout his career, Joel has contributed his expertise to various organizations, including serving as an Instructional Designer for e-learning at the University of Prince Edward Island, as the former Manager of Learning & Development at KJ Sport Consulting, as the former Manager of League Development at The Ontario Soccer Association, and in prior roles as the Technical Director at both the Prince George Youth Soccer Association and the Kanata Soccer Club.
