We need to talk about Restless Leg Syndrome. For those of you lucky enough to have never experienced restless leg syndrome (RLS) it is a neurological condition that causes a creeping, crawling, horribly uncomfortable feeling in your legs and sometimes arms, that forces you to move. I’ve had the condition since I was 7 years old. It has got progressively worse as I’ve got older and there is no cure. The worst bit is it tends to start in the evening and it stops you sleeping. I will often be found jogging on the spot in the middle of the night desperately trying to reduce the pain in my legs. Women are twice as likely to have the condition and many experience it for the first time when pregnant. Thankfully, it usually stops once the baby arrives but dealing with this condition whilst growing a human can destroy your mental health. The reason there is no cure is due to a lack of research into the disease. Suicide and self harm is triple the average in those who have RLS. The lack of sleep sends you insane, it’s completely impossible to relax and the leg pain is overwhelming. I’m talking about this not just because I need an outlet to vent but because I know how lonely this disease is and, although it is rare, I’m sure some of you here will have experienced the same. Feel free to vent below, it’s important to raise awareness of a disease for it to get the attention and funding it deserves, and so many people are suffering in silence when we shouldn’t have to. With that in mind, I’m volunteering for RLS UK and I’ve created a survey to collect new data about the disease to help raise awareness. If you have RLS, or know someone who has, please take the time to complete. It takes just 5 mins. Thanks to RLS UK who are doing all they can to ensure people know more about this syndrome and the impact it can have on those with the condition
I need you. If you have a kid who is 9 months+ and you’re eligible for the new childcare funding, would you please fill in the survey below? We can’t fix how the ‘free hours’ work without data. Your data. Your experience of trying to access 15 funded hours of childcare from 9 months old. We can’t show Westminster that there’s still a massive issue with affordability & accessibility without you. It takes just 5 mins max. Go, go, go.
Please wang us an emoji below to beat the algorithm so we can get 3,000 responses before 2pm
This is England only.
*Some of you may have filled out the last survey on this but unfortunately our survey system went a bit tits up & skewed the results - any chance you would go again?
