John Crawford

John Crawford is an intermedia artist, performance director, and systems designer known for creating immersive environments and interactive experiences through embodied interaction.

He currently serves as a Professor of Intermedia Arts at the University of California, Irvine, where he founded and leads the Emergent Media Research Group, focusing on socially engaged artmaking with emergent media and connected design.

Crawford has a strong background in transdisciplinary arts-based creativity and played a key role in initiating the Digital Arts Minor program at UCI.

With over two decades of experience as an intermedia artist, he has exhibited work globally and participated in various research projects connecting performing arts with fields such as computer science, engineering, and medicine.
