John Garvey is the Global Financial Services Industry Leader at PwC, based in Westport, Connecticut. Garvey has a proven track record of growing and transforming businesses at PwC. As the Global and Asia-Pacific/Americas (APA) Advisory Financial Services leader from 2015 to 2017, he successfully doubled the business in 3 years. Prior to that, as the EMEA Financial Services Advisory and US Banking & Capital Markets Leader from 2012 to 2015, he grew the EMEA FS business from $250M to $400M over three years. From 2005 to 2012, as PwC's Financial Services Advisory Business Leader, he grew the business from $50M to $700M with 2,500 professionals over seven years.1
Before his long tenure at PwC, Garvey held leadership positions at other companies. He served as the CEO of Cybertrust (formerly Betrusted) from 2001 to 2004, where he grew the business to $250M through organic growth and acquisitions. Prior to that, he was the Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Wholesale at Instinet Group Incorporated from 1999 to 2001, where he oversaw operations and technology for what was then the third largest stock exchange in the world.1
Garvey's educational background includes Business Administration and Management studies at City of London University and a BSBA in Accounting from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
