As we enter the month of May, I am thrilled to join in the celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is a time for us to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the AAPI community. This year, we explore the theme of ‘Advancing Leaders Through Innovation.’ At 2K, we believe in the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work and create a journey in their career.
Serving as an executive sponsor of 2K’s Asians in Gaming ERG alongside Nibedita B., we strive to create a space for employees with unique identities to feel celebrated and championed. Coming together is not only important to our ERG, but also has a direct impact in strengthening 2K’s culture.
Throughout my life and career journey, one thing has always remained a guiding principle for me: the importance of being in environments where I can truly be myself. Whether it's connecting with people or choosing where to work, authenticity has always been non-negotiable.
As we commemorate AAPI Heritage Month, I find myself reflecting on this journey and feeling incredibly grateful to be a part of 2K, a company where authenticity is not just accepted but celebrated.
As I celebrate my own heritage this month, I'm reminded of the importance of creating inclusive workplaces where everyone feels empowered to bring their whole selves to the table. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can inspire others to seek out environments where they, too, can feel this sense of belonging and authenticity.
To all members of the AAPI community, remember to live with pride, without downplaying it, and be unapologetic. The AAPI community contains so much diversity, and while identity can be multifaceted, there is joy in getting to know each other’s stories.
