I’ve had the unique perspective of being in a high-flying tech startup that really did disrupt an entrenched and archaic industry (Uber) but more than that we created an entirely new category of transportation. Many are trying to bring the same powers of disruption to aviation.
The reality is there is little to no margin/value for technology to unlock through new models. The aircraft manufacturers, maintenance providers, FBOs, insurance companies, and basically every other service provider has the lock on aviation margin to the point where operators are just commodity providers.
There is room to innovate, for sure, but most of the players live in some sort of Instagram fantasy world where a Gulfstream V trip costs the same as a “premium economy” commercial ticket. I assure you, that’s not a thing.
