Never underestimate the power of Distribution
You’ve got a great product but your business is stale.
You feel like PRODUCT is the problem, and focusing only on perfecting the product BUT TO WHAT END?
If your mentality is "My product will speak for itself"
Well, sorry to disappoint - but you are not doing enough!
Coming back to a research I did on Binance`s growth and aggressive marketing, I think It will be very useful to take a few chapters out of their book.
CZ CEASED EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO PROMOTE BINANCE.
Relentlessly. Vigorously. Ferociously.
He knocked on every door, and if one door closed, he opened ten more.
If your customers don`t come flocking to you after one paid Instagram ad and all you do is keep blaming the product
TIME TO CHANGE THE FOCUS.
Just take a look on what I found out.
CZ used all the marketing techniques he could think of, approached every angle in existence:
He paid thousands of people in more than 50 (!) countries, called "Binance angels", to run telegram chats sending the message "CZ is here to make us all rich!"
He did not only spread his message among potential clients but whole governments: He visited Uganda to kickstart Binance’s Africa business. He attended a dinner at Britain’s parliament to discuss digital currencies. He hiked in the Alps in Liechtenstein with the owner of a local crypto exchange.
Good product can generate higher profit margins than a great one if you REACH OUT TO PEOPLE ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
The conclusion I came to: organic virality is great but don’t stay silent thinking your product will market itself for you.
Speak, reach out, become mainstream, be visible - use discounts, bonuses.
Invest in your efforts, and the results will come.
But the reward will be tenfold.
Have ever wondered how BINANCE took over the world in only 6 months?
Recently I`ve been pondering this question and I came across a gem I just HAD to share.
Lo and behold - the BIBLE OF BINANCE:
Blitzscaling: The Lightning-Fast Path to Building Massively Valuable Companies by Reid Hoffman, Chris Yeh and with a foreword by Bill Gates himself.
Why is this one book so important, you can ask?
Well, because Zhao used it HIMSELF and we know about it from private telegram chat made public, not from any promotional speech!
Right before starting his venture, he sent this book to his closest circle, saying " It applies to us". And he followed it religiously.
If you want to grow BIG and grow FAST this book is for you! (and, of course, if you have balls of steel to pull off "ride or die trick")
If saying "starting a business is like jumping off a cliff and building a plane on the way" scares you, what would you feel if I said " Push the gas pedal before the plane is even finished!"?
That’s the key to success of Binance! They dived in and only sped up on their way, ready to battle any challenges on the way. Create new strategies on the way. Figuring everything out ON THE WAY! I would say, they built a few planes on their way!
You can think of all the problems they had with regulations and all the hardships they encountered because of this business model. But I will just say:
Binance would never exist any other way.
It would be outpaced, crushed by competition because It wouldn’t be able to keep up with the progress and ended up on cemetery in a company of other "promising" start ups.
If your anxieties and over-thinking tells you that you have time and you can scale gradually, I guarantee: you are already behind.
The world is changing lighting fast and the pace of new technology emerging is unmatched to anything before. Play it safe and, well, you snooze - you lose.
Paypal, Amazon, Google - all used this business strategy. While Tumblr, a leviathan of 10s` , failed to implement this strategy on time and was replaced by Pinterest.
That's a very simplistic view just to give you a glimpse.
I`ll dive deeper into how specifically Binance implemented the business model and how they operate within it so STAY TUNED!
PS. Maybe I`ll dig deeper into Paypal and Amazon and other giants who grew exponentially due to this trick/ What do you think? Anybody curious to see behind the scenes and know the real price of success?
