John Thomas is an Australian e-learning pioneer, teacher, and entrepreneur known for his contributions to introducing computers to schools and developing educational software.

In the 1980s, John Thomas played a pivotal role in integrating computers into educational settings, conducting professional development sessions and serving as a guest lecturer at Monash University.

He founded Dataworks in 1985, a company that quickly grew to become Australia's leading curriculum software publisher.

During the 1990s, John Thomas ventured into interactive children's content production, creating award-winning CD-ROMs featuring beloved characters like The Wiggles, Bananas in Pyjamas, and Hi-5, achieving remarkable sales and global distribution.

In the 2000s, he spearheaded online initiatives like Easy2Learn, a successful project in collaboration with Telstra and Curriculum Corporation, focusing on educational technology.

Subsequently, John Thomas expanded Dataworks' business by securing distribution rights to popular titles from international publishers, culminating in the sale of the company in July 2007.

Away from the business world, John Thomas now resides with his family on a country property in Victoria's central highlands, engaging in consultancy, professional development, and teaching endeavors that emphasize technology integration for enhanced student learning outcomes.

His expertise lies in bringing software ideas to fruition, supporting educators and learners in leveraging technology effectively, and exploring new commercial prospects.

John Thomas holds degrees in Educational Computing, Philosophy, and Education from Monash University.
