Joi Danielson is a strategic leader with a focus on solving systemic challenges in ocean conservation, particularly in governance, funding, and technology.

With a foundation in problem-solving from McKinsey & Co., Joi has led multicultural teams in various industries and emerged as a leader in ocean work within the Sustainability and Resource Productivity Practice.

Passionate about global policy and advocacy, she transitioned to the Ocean Conservancy before joining Systemiq in Indonesia.

In Indonesia, Joi spearheaded initiatives that addressed waste pollution, created green jobs, influenced governance policies, and attracted substantial investments.

Recognized for her impactful work, she was elected as a Systemiq Partner.

Joi is dedicated to utilizing emerging technologies like AI and robotics for ocean conservation and is currently working on coastal digital twin projects and a large language model for ocean sustainability.

With 15 years of experience at Systemiq, McKinsey & Co., CBA Bank, and Ocean Conservancy, Joi excels in strategic leadership, global team management, and achieving concrete conservation outcomes.

She holds an MBA Cum Laude in emerging market strategy, a CFA certification, and has been part of prestigious programs like the McKinsey Global Institute Technology Fellowship and Peter Diamandis' A360 program.

Joi's overarching goal is to rebuild marine biodiversity and enhance the health and resilience of ocean ecosystems.

She studied business, marketing, and finance at the University of Washington and completed her MBA in emerging market strategy at the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Her past roles include Partner at Systemiq Ltd., Program Director at Ocean Conservancy, Executive Manager at Commonwealth Bank, Technology Fellow at McKinsey & Co., and various other leadership positions.
