Ah, my first WESA—now that's a memory that'll stick with me longer than that coffee stain on my favorite shirt. I walked into that trade show with my head held high, feeling like I was about to conquer the world with "Draw it Out." I had it all planned out: the signs were designed to perfection, the booth was set up to dazzle, and I was ready to make my mark. Little did I know, I'd end up leaving a mark, alright—just not the one I intended. You see, in my quest for trade show glory, I managed to overlook one tiny detail: I misspelled every single website on those fancy signs. Instead of proudly directing people to "drawitoutusa.com," I had them all pointing to "drwaitoutusa.com." That’s right. Instead of being the face of a cutting-edge product, I became "Dr. Wait Out," the guy who apparently specializes in... well, waiting it out, I suppose. And let me tell you, once you earn a nickname like "Dr. Wait Out," it sticks like that annoying song you can’t get out of your head. People laughed, I laughed—because really, what else can you do?—and before I knew it, the name had taken on a life of its own. I spent the rest of the show explaining that, no, I wasn't offering medical advice or time-management tips; I just couldn’t spell. But the best part? Years later, that nickname still follows me around like a loyal but slightly embarrassing dog. Even when I try to leave it behind, someone will pop up and remind me of my "Dr. Wait Out" days. And honestly? It’s kind of grown on me. There’s something endearing about being known for a blunder that was just too spectacular to forget. So, here I am, the accidental Dr. Wait Out. I may not have nailed the execution, but at least I’m memorable, right? And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that in this crazy world of trade shows and business, sometimes the best stories come from our most epic failures. After all, who needs perfect when you’ve got a nickname that’ll keep everyone laughing for years to come?
