Jonathan R. Ehtessabian, originally from Dubuque, Iowa, is a dedicated professional with a diverse background and a strong commitment to serving his community.

He graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish, all while excelling as a varsity tennis player.

After immersing himself in language studies in Costa Rica, he pursued law studies at George Mason University in Washington, D.C., while working as a sports agent in professional tennis.

In his pursuit of knowledge, he furthered his education at the University of Iowa, earning a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Spanish.

Throughout his academic journey, Mr. Ehtessabian engaged in part-time work as a law clerk for the Iowa Coalition against Domestic Violence and as a Spanish instructor for undergraduates.

He successfully passed the California bar exam in 2006, leading him to a career path focusing on advocating for battered women and children at the San Diego City Attorney's Domestic Violence Unit.

His professional competence and dedication were recognized in the legal community when he was featured in the San Diego Daily Transcript's 'Top Young Attorneys' publication multiple times.

In addition to his legal accomplishments, Mr. Ehtessabian has made substantial contributions to his community through pro bono work, assisting political asylees and unaccompanied children at Casa Cornelia Legal Aid Center.

He is also actively engaged in environmental conservation efforts through volunteering with the San Diego Surfrider Foundation, advocating for the reduction of harmful plastics and styrofoam.

Beyond his legal and community service commitments, Mr. Ehtessabian invests his time and efforts in Costa Rica, collaborating with the local community in Playa Negra, Guanacaste, to advance progressive health and education initiatives.
