The recording of the stream where we implemented a lexer and parser for the Lox language from Crafting Interpreters in Rust is now up, and I think it turned out really good! Clocked in at almost eight hours, but I've broken it up into chapters so it doesn't seem so daunting to follow :)

Follow along or come up with your own solution first and then compare, whichever you prefer — you can access the challenge for free through https://lnkd.in/gzD2HkV5, or in free source form (without the nice infrastructure) at https://lnkd.in/d6ZV4JHb.

For some time I've been looking for an opportunity to do a stream on writing a parser + interpreter for... something. Anything really. I've wanted to implement a parser following matklad's excellent article on Pratt parsing (link below), though honestly anything in the area of parsing would do. Well, CodeCrafters.io (YC S22) have recently released a new challenge in beta that follows Robert Nystrom's Crafting Interpreters book, so I'm going to jump at the opportunity. This Saturday at 1pm UTC we'll see how far we can get through the challenges in 5-6 hours — come join me, or try it yourself and compare notes with the VOD after the fact!

Stream will be at: https://lnkd.in/d99pWepU

You can access the challenge over at https://lnkd.in/gzD2HkV5, or in free source form at https://lnkd.in/d6ZV4JHb. The Crafting Interpreters book is https://lnkd.in/dni3QGeu. Matklad's article on Pratt parsing: https://lnkd.in/d5AJjBZn
