Highlights
Here is a recently posted video on the Cabling Installation and Maintenance Magazine website with Cindy Montstream, Jacques Fluet, and me regarding the updates in ANSI/TIA-942-C Telecommunications Infrastructure Standards for Data Centers, which we recently approved for publication. I was the editor of this revision.
The last two weeks were very productive for data center standards at BICSI and TIA. In BICSI, the BICSI Data Center Design working group approved publication of ANSI/BICSI-002-2024, Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices, and in TIA, the TIA TR_42.1 subcommittee approved publication of ANSI/TIA-942-C Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers. These two standards complement rather than compete with each other. The BICSI-002 standard is a comprehensive data center design best practices standard that assumes that the designer uses a local standard (such as ANSI/TIA-942 , CENELEC EN 50173, or ISO/IEC 11801-5) to provide the base requirements for the telecommunications infrastructure. However, BICSI-002 goes into much more detail regarding the design of other aspects of data centers including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and more. ANSI/BICSI-002 is complemented by ANSI/BICSI-009 Data Center Operations and Maintenance Best Practices, which was also approved for publication. We should hear from TIA and BICSI soon when they will be available.
