Jonathan O'Keeffe

CEO of Machine Medicine and expert in neurology and computational neuroscience

Jonathan O'Keeffe

Jonathan O'Keeffe is the CEO and Founder of Machine Medicine, a company building a platform for the development and deployment of precision neuro-therapeutics.12 He has a diverse background, including:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Oxford
  • MSc in Machine Learning from University College London (UCL)
  • PhD in Computational Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge
  • Academic Clinical Fellow in Neurology at UCL
  • Wellcome Trust Clinical Fellow at the University of Cambridge

As a practicing neurologist, O'Keeffe saw the limitations of treating patients one-by-one. He wanted to combine his neurology and computer science expertise to have a deeper impact. This led him to found Machine Medicine, which combines AI, clinical knowledge, and ambition to solve problems in neurology.2

Machine Medicine's first product is Kelvin, a motor assessment platform for Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders. Kelvin-PD is being used in major clinical trials today.1 The company is building the software and data layer for precision neuro-therapeutics like deep brain stimulation.3

O'Keeffe has an impressive educational background, including degrees from Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, and the Royal College of Physicians.1 He is a native English speaker with limited working proficiency in French.1
