In our latest blog we take a look at the arcane subject of rail referencing... how to refer to a particular train service. This is important but challenging because there are four major ways to refer to a train service... each with its own features and meaning. For historical reasons each industry system was built using the most appropriate referencing system at that time... but now it has become difficult to cross-link these different systems, especially to measure and improve performance. Currently none of the industry systems recording performance store all four of the referencing systems. This means that lots of time is lost in manual lookups to cross-correlate sources of information about the same train. Now TransportAPI has partnered with Northern to produce the TAPI Rail Performance managed service and the Rail Performance Explorer to tackle this problem. Read more at https://lnkd.in/eGaF_9tD
