After reflecting on KuppingerCole Analysts AG's #EIC2024 event last week, I'm ready to share themes that resonated with my experience on behalf of DIACC and personally.
The themes are listed as popular song titles, slightly adjusted to connect with identity professionals.
📌 Take another little piece of my capabilities (Janis Joplin). Many puzzle-piece capabilities exist to advance digital trust and identity verification, and we are moving into a phase of putting those pieces together to support adoption at scale.
📌 Protocol wars dead or alive (Bon Jovi). The industry may be maturing away from protocol purist mindsets and toward those opportunities to enable trust, assurance, and interoperability across different technology stacks.
📌 Send in the wallets (Barbara Streisand). Wallets have arrived fueled by the EU Digital Identity Wallet implementation reference architecture, its four large-scale pilots (note that I'm on the large-scale #DC4EU advisory board 💥 ), US DHS S&T SVIP and German Government pilots.
📌 People are centred (The Doors). The SSI model is Issuer, Holder, Verifier, not Issuer, Wallet, Verifier. It's easy to lose sight of the Holder, the person in control. Remember to keep the person, their inclusion, accessibility, and data-sharing control at the center.
📌 AI's been everywhere (Johnny Cash). Discussions of AI benefits and risks were omnipresent. AI interest is at an all-time high, and we are confident its impact will be significant with less vaporware.
