Joost Verwilghen

International Development Practitioner and Adviser

Joost Verwilghen has over 25 years of experience in international development and program management, with a strong focus on projects in Bangladesh.

He has worked with a variety of international development agencies and currently serves as the Team Leader on the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Joost's expertise includes project management, operations, design, and proposal development, as well as fund management, rural development, capacity building, and organizational development.

He holds a Master's Degree in Animal/Livestock Husbandry and Production from Wageningen Universiteit en Researchcentrum.

His previous roles include positions at organizations such as Palladium, DFID, SPRING Accelerator, and Nedworc Foundation, where he held leadership and advisory roles.

Joost's specialties also include the Reality Check Approach (RCA) in development projects.

Throughout his career, Joost has managed projects in different regions, including South Asia, Middle East, North Africa, Indonesia, and the Netherlands.

He has a strong background in working with CBOs and NGOs at the grassroots level, assessing development needs, and providing strategic advice on addressing those needs.
