Jordana Cotton

Doctorally trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Jordana Cotton is a Doctorally trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 18 years of experience in healthcare. She obtained her Doctorate and Masters degrees from the Massachusetts General Hospital IHP in Boston, where she initially worked as a researcher studying neural pathways of thought disorders.

Fascinated by restructuring negative thought patterns and enhancing cognitive abilities, Jordana transitioned to clinical practice and has since amassed experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She relocated to NYC in 2010 to join the National Health Service Corp and worked at NYU Langone's Brooklyn campus, focusing on underserved clients. Jordana also continues to work at NYU Langone Hospital.

Additionally, Jordana has been an active board member of Nurse Practitioners of NY since 2010, serving as the Chair of the Educational Committee. She is dedicated to providing continuing education to primary care and specialty health care professionals in the NYC area, particularly in the field of psychopharmacological therapies.

With 14 years of clinical experience as a Psychopharmacologist in various inpatient and outpatient settings, Jordana approaches care holistically, aiming to maximize potential while minimizing side effects. Her specialties include General Psychiatry, Addiction, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and working with Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.

Jordana's educational background includes a Doctor of Nursing Practice and an MSN in Psychiatry with honors from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she also studied Cognitive Psychology for her Bachelor's Degree at Binghamton University.

Currently, Jordana is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at The Midtown Practice for Psychotherapy and Psychiatry. She has previously held positions at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Nurse Practitioners of NY, Nova Psychiatric Services, and Massachusetts General Hospital in various roles from Nurse to Research Coordinator.
