Jorge Soares is a robotics engineer with a diverse background in computer science, electrical engineering, and communications. He holds a Ph.D. from the EPFL/IST-UL Joint Doctoral Initiative, specializing in autonomous vehicle control and distributed sensing.

His technical expertise spans software engineering, embedded systems, communication protocols, sensor networks, robotics, marine technology, industrial automation, and computer security. Jorge has a track record of publication in international conferences and journals.

With a decade of volunteer experience at IEEE, Jorge has taken on leadership roles involving recruitment, event organization, and strategic planning, gaining valuable experience in managing multicultural teams and large-scale projects. His involvement in IEEE has exposed him to the dynamics of a 400-thousand-member global nonprofit association.

Passionate about learning, Jorge Soares has a lifelong love for encyclopedias and enjoys exploring diverse subjects. He is an avid traveler, having visited over 45 countries across four continents.

Jorge's educational background includes a Ph.D. from Ecole polytechnique federale de Lausanne and Instituto Superior Tecnico, along with Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Instituto Superior Tecnico.

He has held various roles in prestigious organizations such as Research Program Manager at Protocol Labs, Volunteer at IEEE, Patent Examiner at the European Patent Office, Research Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Research Fellow at Instituto Superior Tecnico, and more.
