This one was interesting. I was looking to do two things: first, to see how well ChatGPT could fill the character limit for a response, and second, to test how well it could handle the 'voice' of a living person rather than a character or characterization. Granted, I had to keep it a bit surreal, so:

"I need to write a post in a format appropriate for LinkedIn about the impact AI will have on humanity's ability to effectively communicate their ideas. I would like the article to take the form of a debate between noted linguist Noam Chomsky (taking the 'con' position) and a sentient birthday cake named Professor JP Frostington (takin the 'pro' position.) Please use as many characters as can fit in one message for your response."

The image was generated by the built-in tools provided by LinkedIn for article creation. The article was created by ChatGPT-3.5.

My thoughts:

  • Initially, ChatGPT responded with a 'condensed' version of the debate. I asked it to provide the 'full' version - this is what comprises the article.
  • Both the condensed version and the full version are well below the token limit for a message (this article is 1604 tokens, so only two-thirds of the maximum size of 2048 tokens).
  • I didn't feel Chomsky's voice had the right tone, having read him and heard him speak. To me, it felt too generic. So, I asked ChatGPT about it, and it's response:

"Noam Chomsky is known for his intellectual rigor, skepticism towards technological advancements, and emphasis on the importance of human agency and creativity. In crafting his responses, I aimed to capture these elements by focusing on his concerns about the potential pitfalls of AI in communication, such as the loss of nuance, context, and empathy. Chomsky's responses emphasize the need to preserve the integrity of human expression and interaction, even in the face of technological innovation.

However, given the imaginative nature of the prompt—having Noam Chomsky engage in a debate with a sentient birthday cake—I incorporated a touch of humor while staying true to his underlying principles and arguments. Overall, while the scenario may be unconventional, I believe Chomsky's responses maintain a semblance of his voice and manner of speaking, albeit in a playful and creative context."

Wouldn't have thought to describe Noam Chomsky as funny, but what do I know?

Total time spent: ~25 minutes (mostly the back-and-forth about length and Chomsky's tone.)

Suggestions for future articles are both welcomed and encouraged.

For my third dive into AI generated content, I steer away from song lyrics and back to writing in a specific tone:

"I need to write a post in a format appropriate for LinkedIn about tips one can use when creating prompts for AI tools such as yourself. However, I'd like to have the article written in the style of Liam Neeson being surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves."

The image was generated by the built-in tools provided by LinkedIn for article creation. The article was created by ChatGPT-3.5.

My thoughts:

  • Back to the quality of the original Batman prompt, this is my favorite response so far
  • I appreciate how ChatGPT understood the context of the prompt and made it Liam Neeson, Action Star without that instruction
  • The fact he fights the wolves at the end is perfect
  • Again, image generation was fine, but I found it interesting how it hedged toward camping and not survival. I did have to change the title to match the article, as the image generation tool only takes a prompt and then generates a title rather than taking a specific title

Total time spent: ~10 minutes

Suggestions for future articles are both welcomed and encouraged.
