Highlights
Mish called out sick and woke up from a nap to find her boss standing at the foot of her bed.
She confirmed with her boss that she was ok to stay home, told her roommate she was going to lay down, and took a nap.
So for some reason the boss decides to take it upon himself to check if she's sick by driving to her house, knocking on the door, discovering it was open, and letting himself in.
"That's when I woke up and he's standing at the foot of my bed, kind of waving at me. 'What are you doing? This is not okay. You need to get out of my room. I'm not coming into work.'"
Not only is this an invasion of privacy, but there is a clear boundary that should exist between a boss and their employee that should be respected.
His actions are even worse when considering how fearful employees are of taking sick days.
Nearly 65% of workers said they experience "stress, anxiety, guilt or fear" when requesting sick time from their employer.
One in four workers said they have been either pressured or explicitly asked to work while they've been sick.
This corporate narrative has got to change if we're going to keep our people healthy and happy.
What would you do in Mish's shoes?
