An interesting review of a paper concluding that AI will only modestly boost productivity. The interesting bit is in the rebuttal: that the greatest gains will come from eliminating the least productive firms. I.e., those that don’t adapt quickly. Anyone know any of those?

This is exactly the sort of plot twist that I love so much about AI right now: Llama, the GenAI LLM model from Meta, is apparently about to surpass GPT-4.

For context, note that GPT-5 is in the near future and is supposed to be a step change further in capability, BUT Llama is Open Source. As in, completely free for anyone to use.

What does it mean to your business that anyone anywhere with access to the cloud can suddenly produce their own GPT-4 quality custom models, services, and platforms?
