I can’t believe how wrong I was about success.

As I officially step into my FLRP Year 2 role I’m reflecting back on how wrong I had defined success in the past.

Rewind the clock 🕰️

When the fog of a wasted childhood wore off I had a significant wake up call.

Drugs and alcohol were no longer my identity.

I needed to reinvent my life.

I needed to reinvent my career.

After long nights of research I adopted an approach I now call “choose your own adventure career planning” which led me to the idea of accelerating my growth to unlock greater possibilities.

The CRAZY IDEA 🤔 ➜ MBA in Finance ➜ Chartered Financial Analyst “CFA” ➜ While working full time

What could go wrong 🤷‍♂️

Fast forward and I did what everyone around me said was IMPOSSIBLE.

My crazy idea actually worked!

➜ Obtained MBA in Finance w/ 3.9 GPA ➜ Obtained CFA Charter ➜ Started new job

(Of special note is that I passed the 3 CFA Levels CONSECUTIVELY 🏆 Someone in my study cohort calculated this at 7-10% likelihood.)

THE PROBLEM

I nearly traded my soul for this achievement.

I was so focused on EXTERNAL appearances of success that I sacrificed my health, marriage, and faith.

I was attempting to copy what I saw on LinkedIn ➜ The company ➜ The degree ➜ The salary ➜ The title

Certainly I achieved success holding up this diploma but I was a ZOMBIE and shell of who I wanted to be.

Pursue success but don’t offer up your HEALTH or core VALUES as a ritual sacrifice on the altar of success.

Cherish what really matters in life.

What about you? Have you ever sacrificed health or core values in the name of pursing success or achievement?

Be Awesome Be Bold Be You

P.S. Fun fact… the CFA Charter may be the largest diploma known to mankind.

Should introverts be using LinkedIn?

I believe LinkedIn is the best networking tool for an introvert.

Be Seen Be Heard On Your Terms

It’s not necessarily about building a profitable side hustle.

It could be. But doesn’t have to be.

Take advantage of the power of LinkedIn and put your ideas out there!

Someone on this platform needs to hear your voice.

IGNITE hope in others.

What was the “aha moment” that got you posting on LinkedIn❓

Be awesome. Be bold. Be you.
