My wife Anna-Katherine Rowley and I just moved to Stanford! I'm so thankful for the opportunity to join the MBA class of 2023 and for my wife’s new role as a 2nd grade teacher in Los Altos.
When I was graduating high school in 2013, I was asked to write down two long-term goals. The first was to run the Boston Marathon, which I had the joy of running in 2014. The second was to get my MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Eight years later, it feels surreal to walk through campus knowing that classes will be starting tomorrow.
I owe a huge thanks to my wife for supporting and loving me through a lengthy application process. My parents and sister have also supported my journey in more ways than I recognize. My parents instilled in me from a young age a love for learning by encouraging me in whatever interests I had with no expectations of performance, constantly cheering me on. Growing up, I always wanted to be like my dad who has his MBA. And my mom told me countless times over the years that I was capable of achieving my dreams. I needed those reminders to keep going.
So many others have been helpful in this journey. My colleagues at Trive and our portfolio companies have become friends and mentors. Before that, the team at Prudential along with many faculty and administration at Wheaton had a huge impact on me.
Finally, I praise God for this opportunity. His faithfulness remains steadfast regardless of outcomes with grad school acceptances or any other career advancements, but I am filled with gratitude as we embark on this next stage of our journey.
