I don’t often share personal work here on LinkedIn, but this music video I helped create, starring a cast of AI-generated humans, is too… strange — and too on-topic not to share here.
For those of you who only know me professionally: outside of work, I front an indie rock band here in Charlotte, NC called Family Video. (A lot of synthesizers, a lot of big guitars, some saxophone, a lot of drum machines.) Around the same time that we were prepping our new single for release — a song that pokes around the darker edges of techno-optimism — I became obsessed with this fairly new industry popping up around the deployment of synthetic, AI-generated humans.
There are some wild (and wildly unsettling) advances happening in this field, led by companies like Hour One, HeyGen, and Synthesia, and turbocharged by everything happening in the field of #generativeAI. Creating a video performed by entirely faux humans takes but a few minutes of effort, and cloning yourself as a synthetic avatar takes only a few minutes more.
Naturally, it felt like good timing to experiment with this technology.
What you’ll hear in this video is my voice and my band’s instruments. What you’ll see is a performance conducted by people who don’t really exist. 😬
I hope you enjoy it!
“Is Lowe’s Style Studio the future of home renovation?” — Design Milk
It’s hard to answer that in a pithy way, but the reason we built this app was to showcase a very different and more intuitive way to reimagine the spaces in which we live. We are bursting at the seams with ideas for where Lowe’s Style Studio for Vision Pro can go, and it was a lot of fun to delve into them with Gregory Han.
As always, so many thanks go out to the Lowe's Innovation Labs crew for building an important step on the path towards the future of spatial commerce.
