Highlights
I'm looking for a volunteer survey specialist to help us add some quantitative expertise to our Research Team at Work on Climate and find the right levers of change to make climate work mainstream.
How many people want to work on climate, how many people know that it's possible, and what's stopping those that do? These are just some of the questions we’re trying to answer.
So, if you’re an expert in running large-scale surveys and up for volunteering your skills for this cause - drop me a message!
I’ve been pulling together a list of design agencies doing work in sustainability and climate action. Here are some of the most inspiring ones I've found so far:
Big. An Impact Studio. Product/Design/Brand studio focusing on social & sustainable Impact - worked on many exciting projects like Tomorrow Bank and Project Holi, and running a process called “regeneration sprints”.
Futerra - Change agency, product incubator, and training academy for sustainable development. You’ve got to check out their “Awesome Anthropocene Goals”!
Futurice - Innovation and Futures consultancy - now a B-corp and have a growing sustainability and regeneration focus. An interesting angle of building resilient businesses.
Kode21 - Design agency using a unique approach called “The Business of Climate Solutions” where they help clients integrate climate solutions into their value proposition
NEW STANDARD.S - All kinds of services for transitioning businesses to sustainable ways of working - design thinking, systemic design, product and business innovation, process optimisation, team upskilling, brand comms.
Morrama - Industrial design studio with a lot of recent focus on sustainable and circular products, without compromising on beautiful form and function. You might have seen their more sustainable and accessible redesign of the COVID testing kits, and circular products like Wild Deodorant.
Snook - Service design consultancy with some nice principles around sustainability that are woven into their work (a lot with healthcare and transport). Co-organisers of the Design for Planet festival - which I’m looking forward to again this year!
SPACE10 - Research and Design Lab focused on people and the planet. Particularly loved their “Ideal City 2040” project!
SPHERICAL - a strategic design and integrative research studio with some inspiring community-led regeneration projects. They’re currently hiring for a project in LA to build open-source tools for climate resilience. Also fun fact - they created Regen.Earth - a searchable map aggregating over 350 documentaries about regenerative projects that inspired a chapter in the eco-sci-fi novel “The Ministry for the Future”
Stance - Innovation & Design Agency focused on sustainability. They’ve supported the launch of the world's most sustainable arts shipping solution, developed a net zero plan for an Arts & Events Venue, and even redesigned the digital membership experience for a political party.
Tribe Zero - Research & Design Studio focused on sustainability problems from reducing supply chain emissions, to redesigning products for circularity.
Wholegrain Digital - A digital agency for positive businesses and charities. They’re really a thought leader when it comes to building sustainable digital products.
I hope these companies and projects inspire you as much as they did me!
Did I miss anyone? Let me know - always trying to build out the list!
