Highlights
I recently built my musician website with ChatGPT, a tool that can use AI and natural language processing to generate code. I wanted to share my experience, as well as my main takeaways from the process.
At first, I was easily able to get from ChatGPT the code I needed for a minimalistic and sleek landing page with React/Nextjs. I also learned about Chakra UI, which I had never used before, from ChatGPT's code output.
However, when I asked ChatGPT to generate a translucent glass navbar, what came out didn't really work properly. That's when I realized that ChatGPT isn't perfect, and won't always get it right.
I then tried asking it questions such as "why is the above navbar showing up as transparent? Are there any other ways of doing it?" , and I got some really helpful pointers towards the right direction.
To sum up, ChatGPT is great if you know how to use it effectively. But since it is trained on past data, it may present you with some outdated coding practices.
