There’s something really important happening in Syracuse NY and I just picked up and left California to be a part of it.

The GENIUS NY program has put together a set of ingredients that’s a recipe for disruption. When it comes to AAM and UAS, CenterState CEO is a puddle of gasoline and the GENIUS NY program has lit the match.

At Aloft, we’ve worked at the Federal and State level for many years. We’ve seen a lot of State programs and more often than not they are extremely progressive for the industry. Without being reductive, we’ve seen a lot of programs that have very critical pieces like airspace but no glue like addressable market; and we’ve seen places with lots of glue like addressable market, but missing critical pieces like accessible airspace.

New York State has cracked the code: they have the airspace, the market, the ecosystem and the conviction to will an industry into existence here. With NUAIR just next door, there’s over 700k people accessible from the 40 mile corridor of airspace. Our neighbors are leading aerospace companies like Saab, BAE Systems, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Air Force Research Laboratory and Lockheed Martin. With major universities and strong engineering pedigree here, there’s no shortage of talent to help us grow.

This place and time are a powder keg for the future of aviation.

I, and Aloft, are all in.
