While Black women are the pillars of their families, communities, and the U.S. economy, we are more likely to be under-resourced, underpaid, and underfunded. Black women are givers. We are always seeking to find ways to give back to our communities.
Black women entrepreneurs receive less than 0.3% of venture capital funding. Yet, we can keep on thriving, overcoming, inspire and be inspired. We are always setting the bar. One of the ways some amazing women are trying to turn the tide for black women is through crowdfunding platforms. Crowdfunding allows the community to pool together and help startups raise fundings to launch or scale up their business.
This way, Black women are able to overcome their lack of relationships with banks, access to capital from millionaire investors by allowing the community they hope to serve to reinvest in them and in each other. This is why I have decided to listen to a wise woman and launched my crowdfunding campaign in order to raise capital to launch Beautelanin Skincare, a Black women-focused skincare brand. Our mission is to reduce Black women's exposure to harmful, chemical-laced skincare products that are not only affecting their physical health but also their psychological well-being as well as their self-esteem. We are building confidence with toxic-free skincare products that are made with Black women's needs. Our vision is to empower Black women to realize their value, self-worth, and take pride in their effortless natural beauty by changing their relationship with the beauty industry. Let us all be part of this movement by helping Beautelanin raise capital for its launch.
