Judy Belk is a respected figure in philanthropy, known for her insightful writing and expertise in philanthropic giving, social change, board governance, and corporate social responsibility. She has a rich background in senior executive leadership across government, corporate, and philanthropic sectors. Belk's notable roles include serving as the President & CEO of The California Wellness Foundation, leading groundbreaking initiatives, such as mission-related investing and health programs for women of color. She also played key roles at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and Levi Strauss & Co., overseeing various functions like communications, CSR, and foundation management. Belk is a published author and a board member of organizations like Hedgebrook and the Surdna Foundation, with accolades including the James A. Joseph Lecturer on Philanthropy and the Ann Reiss Lane Lifetime Achievement Award. She holds a BS in Communications from Northwestern University and an MPA from California State University, East Bay, where she has been recognized as a distinguished alumna. Belk is also a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and has been inducted into the Alexandria African American Hall of Fame, currently residing in Los Angeles.
