“So you'll be at Punchcut until you die right?"

One of my clients said this to me a couple of years ago over drinks. After an awkward silence (my whole team looked at me wide eyed!), of course, I laughed, nodded and admitted “yes it's probably true.”

This week marks Punchcut's 20th anniversary.

I can't believe how I blinked and so many years have gone by. When I reflect on these years, I really don’t remember the challenges, frustrations, tough decisions, or even the hard work. Everything is overshadowed by the amazing people I have been fortunate enough to know along the way. (Ok, you may be rolling your eyes right now, but hear me out.) I could list every single person who has worked with Punchcut and their impact on me. The ones who made me laugh, the ones who kicked my ass, the ones who taught me how to do more social good, and the ones who taught me how to make something spin around in AfterEffects.

In the midst of designing next-gen products and services, we have always supported each other. We laugh and hug over promotions, marriages, new homes, births, and other miracles. And we even cry together over disasters (both natural-made and project-made), divorces, losses, and unthinkable personal tragedies. We say that “People are the Priority. The Future is the Focus.” And it’s true. We are a place that allows people to be human, and we are better for it.

I'm incredibly proud of the company we've built in Punchcut. I hope this message reaches all our insanely talented alumni, our smart and collaborative clients, our stellar team members, our ever-supportive significant others: Thank you all for your role in creating something very special in Punchcut over the last 20 years.

This is the place I call home, where I am surrounded by whip-smart,  talented, funny, and kind people doing thoughtful work that will change our future. I’m excited for the next 20 years. If they’ll let me, I’ll still be here in 2042 trying to figure out bionic interfaces with some new favorite people (that I haven’t even met yet). Why would I ever want to be anywhere else?
