Just finished reading Ruby Kandah, Ph.D. recently released guidebook on customer-centric CRM, and WOW, I wish I had this book earlier! It’s incredibly comprehensive, covering every conceivable aspect of CRM implementation—whether you're at the early stages of a startup building a use case for CRM investment, or you're at a more mature phase looking to optimize and scale your CRM system.

Are you truly data-driven, or are you "data-confused"? The book identifies many of the common challenges companies face within their CRM ecosystem and offers practical strategies and best practices to overcome them.

I found myself physically nodding and even chuckling at the challenges highlighted throughout the book. My copy is now filled with sticky notes for all the goodies I learned that I look forward to using in the near future.

This book delves into best practices for integrating AI into your CRM, mapping your VoC (and also covering VoE, VoD), Build vs. Buy decisions, hiring and organizing your CRM team, developing a CRM roadmap, change management, driving adoption, and so much more.

What stands out is how this book resonates with a wide audience within the CRM space—from executives and leadership to technical roles. There’s something valuable here for everyone.

I highly recommend this book to anyone working within the CRM space!

Sitting with dying people every week has taught me to hold space for difficult emotions, to witness pain without an attachment to fixing. It's a skill that contrasts with my default mode within my tech career as a problem solver.   Since 2017, I have been volunteering five hours a week with the Zen Hospice Project.   Last week, one of the residents starts the conversation with "So how's work?"   We rarely discuss my job, but I shared that I had been laid off the day before due to my role being made redundant.   The concern on his face was deeply touching. We sat in silence for a few minutes.    In that moment, he held space for me. Here was someone with limited time left, yet his empathy for my situation, that is fleeting in nature, brought tears to my eyes.    I was reminded of what truly matters.   I had an amazing journey at OpenTable and owe it to all the awesome and kind people I had the pleasure of working with. Thank you.   I'll be taking some time for self-care and travels, and then will be on the lookout for my next journey.    #layoffs #selfcare #volunteer #empathy
