Highlights
I got married last month, so this post is for friends and colleagues asking how it was.
TLDR, it was awesome (and I’m happy to tell you more over coffee)… but there’s a reason I’m sharing this on LinkedIn. We also went on our honeymoon, and vacations are often when I do my best thinking. Without the dopamine hit of crossing something off a to-do list and feeling like I’m moving things forward, I’m forced to think about whether we're really making progress.
A honeymoon may sound like an unlikely candidate for this kind of reflection, but here are some of mine:

Starting a company is hard. I’ve been an early employee at a couple of them, and that’s really hard too. This is different hard.

That also makes it a lot more fun when something works. Customers are happy. People are talking about us. We’re solving a real problem.

Supply chain has a lot of real problems. I think that’s pretty cool. I think we’re tackling some important ones.

Finding flow makes everything a lot easier. That’s hard when you’re doing 50 things at once. I don’t think anyone is actually good at multi-tasking.

People also make everything easier. Find the people who believe in you and in your product — and find a way to work with them.

Just because you can do it yourself doesn’t mean you should. But if you think you can and you just don’t want to, that’s probably a sign you should.

Business and technical disciplines communicate differently. That’s why we have product people. But we can all be better communicators.

To that point, write it down. The fewer words, the better.

Run your own race, and don’t be a jerk. It won’t help you get there faster.

We are making progress. There isn’t a playbook, there’s just the notion that you can keep moving it forward.
