While Africa's "big four" markets attract most of the attention and capital from tech investors, my recent trip to the DRC with a group of forward-thinking investors and founders suggests we should all update our narrative about the country and see that the opportunities might just be bigger than the challenges. Our meetings with banks, telcos and tech founders showed us how poised the country - with a population of 20m alone in Kinshasa - is for the coming wave of financial inclusion and digitisation, as well as the sectors that will follow on the back of it (including edtech). As one of the pioneering financial services leaders we met with said, "If you are not seeing this, your eyes are not open."

I have great admiration and gratitude to Guy Futi who invited us to his home country to show us the new narrative this is unfolding. And to take us to his childhood home! And to the founders of VaultPay Ntambwa Basambombo and Christel Ilaka - can't wait for your launch. What the folks behind Silikin Village is stunning - we will all want an office there once the new wing is open. And thanks to the travelling group for amazing questions and energy - Mike Mompi, Ekene Agu, Amandine Lobelle, Peng Chen, Olivia Gao, M. Mikael Hajjar, Kayode Adeyinka, and Tosin Onafuye.

Can't wait to go back. Thank you Guy!
