Carbon Development Engineer at Woodside Energy

Julia Ward, a dedicated Environmental Engineer with a strong passion for sustainable energy, made headlines recently for her participation in the largest ever all-female expedition to Antarctica through the Homeward Bound leadership initiative.

Julia's educational background includes a Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Environmental Engineering focusing on hydrogeology, soil, and groundwater from Aalborg Universitet, and a Bachelor of Environments with a major in Environmental Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Additionally, she has completed a 200hr+ Yoga Teacher Training at Spanda School in Fremantle.

Professionally, Julia has held various roles such as Carbon Development Engineer at Woodside Energy, where she worked on Australian carbon offset projects, and participated in the Homeward Bound Projects as an HB4 Participant. She has also served as a Meditation Teacher at a freelance capacity, and as a Yoga Teacher at YOGAWORX, Glide Yoga, and Spanda School. Julia's prior roles at Woodside Energy include Environmental Engineer in Operations, Climate Change Advisor, Gender Equality Matters Committee Member, and Environmental Engineer in Brownfields Engineering. She also started her engineering career as an Environmental Engineering Vacation Student at Woodside Energy.

Apart from her engineering expertise, Julia has a rich background in community involvement, having served as Secretary of the Melbourne University Environmental Engineers Society and the Environments Committee at Queen's College - University of Melbourne. Her early work experiences also include roles as a Waitress at various cafes and as an Assistant Boarding Matron at Caldicott School.
